In Greek mythology the nine muses were female and acted as catalysts to creativity. The words “music” and “amuse” share the same ancient Greek origin. My muses evoke strong feelings of love, fascination and admiration.

“Bossa Barbara (Remix)”
Barbara is the love of my life. We started dating as teens and have been married for over 50 years. When I look at her today, the sense of being teenagers is still very much there. If there is such a thing as a main muse, that would be Barbara.

“Samba Sara (Remix)”
The bond between a father and daughter is unique, and in our case, especially so. Sara has navigated her own path in life and is living it on her terms and those of her wonderful husband, Omar. Her great joys in life are travel and food. She and Omar live in Paris where Sara partners in the food and Paris-centric website, “Paris by Mouth” https://parisbymouth.com/

“Tango for Kammy and Karin”
I am blessed with twin sisters. Although they are 11 years older, it has always felt to me like we were the same age. That’s because they included me in so many fun times and showed me life beyond my years. The beauty of their youth has followed them to this day.

“For Janis”
Janis left home at 16 years of age. She got a job working for a Canadian company that mines gold. She enjoyed a successful and productive career at this same company for many years. Accomplished, beautiful, kind, funny and loves music. It’s hard not to be inspired by her.

“Waltz for Nellie”
I have a friend who lives in a small town in the southeast of France called Privas. He has done a lot to promote my music in Europe via his website. He and his wife have a daughter who is lives with severe mental disability. However, she enjoys listening and dancing to music in her father’s studio. I have only pictured her dancing as I have never actually met her. For her birthday a couple of years ago I wrote “Waltz for Nellie.” The care her parents take of her is most inspiring. http://www.bigvjamboree/

“For Ellen”
On Instagram, I follow this amazing bass player who lives in Las Vegas. She is in her mid-teens. Her father is a professional musician and has guided her in her efforts. Her talent and spirit made this an easy one to write. I can just see her playing it. https://www.ellenplaysbass.com/

“Bossa Brigitte”
I was on my first Martini and Brigitte was dreaming about her second. She told me she likes Bossa Nova in her delightful Peruvian accent. I told her I’d write her one. I don’t think she believed me but here is “Bossa Brigitte.”

“Victoria”
Vicki was by most accounts the prettiest girl in our high school class. She was Brigitte’s roommate at the University of Colorado and friend for 50 years. Couldn’t write something for Brigitte and not for Victoria.
